Invisalign®

Invisalign® clear aligner

Luz Hernandez, DDS is proud to provide Invisalign in Tampa, Wesley Chapel, and the surrounding areas. There was a time when the only way to straighten teeth and correct bites was through bulky metal braces, but with Invisalign, you’ll be able to achieve a beautiful smile without the hassle of traditional metal braces. Invisalign is an orthodontic system that uses a series of clear plastic aligners to gently move teeth into alignment.

Invisalign treatment starts with digital impressions taken with an intraoral scanner. We use these impressions to generate a 3D image of your teeth and predict how your teeth will move during treatment. (We can also show you a preview of what your teeth will look like once your treatment is complete!) The images are sent to the Invisalign lab and used to fabricate your clear aligners.

You’ll wear each set of aligners for one or two weeks, or as directed, and over time, your teeth will shift into place. When you’re done with your treatment, you’ll be given a set of retainers to keep your teeth beautiful and straight for decades to come.

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign®

What’s my role in the Invisalign treatment?

One of the most important things you can do as an Invisalign patient is wear your aligners as directed—20 to 22 hours each day. Only remove your aligners to eat, brush, and floss. While you may occasionally take your aligners out for special events, it’s important not to make this a habit, as it can extend your treatment time.

Where can I get Invisalign in Wesley Chapel?

Dr. Luz Hernandez, DDS is an Invisalign provider in Wesley Chapel, Tampa, and the surrounding areas at her dental practice.

How often do I need to come in for Invisalign appointments?

You’ll need to come in to see Dr. Luz every four to six weeks so she can monitor your progress and make sure your teeth are moving as they should.

What can Invisalign treat?

Invisalign can treat mild to moderate cases of misalignment. Dr. Luz recommends Invisalign for patients with:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Crowded teeth

While most patients are a good fit for Invisalign, there are some circumstances where traditional braces are a better option. When this is the case, Dr. Luz will refer you to a qualified orthodontist.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

There are countless advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces, which is why so many patients are choosing this innovative system. Benefits include:

  • Invisalign is discreet
  • Invisalign requires fewer dental visits
  • Invisalign aligners are more comfortable than braces
  • You can remove your aligners for better oral hygiene
  • You can see your progress
  • Invisalign helps retain the stability, longevity, and health of the teeth and gums, protecting against gum disease and cavities in the long-term

Why should I get Invisalign when over-the-counter aligners are cheaper?

Aligners that can be purchased over-the-counter, in shopping malls, or online are not the same as Invisalign. Orthodontic treatment should always be provided by a dental professional. Often, the result of these aligners is that the teeth look worse and Invisalign is needed to correct the problems they’ve caused.
